Juan L. Sotomayor, M.D.
Allergy, Asthma & Immunology
Dr. Sotomayor was born in New York City and currently
resides with his wife (a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner) and 3 children in
Liverpool, NY. They are avid Syracuse University Basketball fans, and follow
many other sports especially golf! Their daughter Kiley is an avid horse rider.
Their twin boys, Conner and Corey who were born in Korea are busy creating
havoc! Dr. Sotomayor is a graduate of the CCNY Center for Biomedical Education
and completed his medical degree at the New York University in 1981. He
completed his pediatric sub-specialty training at the Upstate Medical Center in
Syracuse, NY, under Dr. Frank Oski and did a fellowship in Allergy, Immunology,
and Pulmonology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University
of Pennsylvania. He then became an attending physician in pulmonology at Wayne
State University and was the director of the apnea program and the pulmonary
function laboratory. Since 1988 he has been in private practice specializing in
pulmonary and asthma diseases in the Syracuse area. He is also an assistant
professor in Pediatrics and Allergy at the University Hospital and St. Joseph's
Hospital. He has been board certified in Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology
since 1987. He belongs to the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology as
well as the American College of Allergy and Immunology. He sits on the board of
Affiliated Pediatric Practices in Syracuse, NY. He belongs to the Onondaga
County Medical Society. He has also received resident teaching awards in the
past. He has also published articles on pulmonary diseases and is currently
doing clinical research studies.

Ellen B. Schaeffer, M.D.
Allergy, Asthma & Immunology
Dr. Ellen Schaeffer completed her pediatric residency
training at Georgetown University, in Washington D.C.. She went on to do her
Allergy & Immunology training for both children and adults at the National
Jewish Center for Immunology & Respiratory Diseases in Denver, Colorado.
After completing her fellowship training she remained on staff at National
Jewish Center for one year. Since that time, she has been in private practice
specializing in Asthma, Immunology, and other Allergic Disorders. Dr. Schaeffer
received her Allergy and Immunology Board Certification in 1993. She is a
member of the College of Allergy and Immunology as well as the Academy of
Allergy and Immunology. She has published several articles and currently is
active in clinical research studies.

Jill
M. Agne, FNP
Allergy & Asthma
Jill graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and
worked in several different clinical settings including pediatrics,
medical-surgical units, and one-day surgery as a registered nurse. In 1993, she
received her bachelor degree from SUNY Utica-Rome and in 1995 her Masters in
Nursing and Adult Nurse Practitioner certification from Syracuse University.
She then worked on an internal medicine service at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In
1999, she obtained her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from University
Health Science Center and joined the Allergy and Asthma Diagnostic Practice.
She is certified through the American Nurses Association and is a member of the
Coalition of Nurse Practitioner both on the state and local level.

Deirdre Keenan, RPA-C
Allergy & Asthma
Deirdre Keenan is a board certified Physician Assistant. She graduated in 1986
from LeMoyne College with a BS degree in Biology. She continued her studies at
SUNY Stoney Brook on Long Island. She graduated from there in 1988 with a second
BS in Physician Assistant Studies. Since that time, she has done the majority of
patient care in primary care medicine with an emphasis in pediatrics and women’s
health. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and
maintains her board certification every six years. Deirdre lives with her
husband, 4 children (and big dog – a Saint Bernard) in Cicero. They enjoy summer
visits to Vermont, and are active with school activities throughout the year.
